Generation Green
FREE STEM WORKSHOP exploring renewable energy through kinaesthetic learning where participants build their own model wind turbines.
This workshop is available for FREE to year 5 and 6 students within Greater Manchester and Buckinghamshire schools and is funded by SEFE. Apply using the form below 👇
Young people learn about electricity and energy, looking at how it’s generated using wind turbines, as well as being challenged to design the perfect blades and get the best pitch of those blades to generate electricity using a wind turbine.
The wind turbine challenge develops students’ teamwork and creativity skills through the design and construction of their blades for a miniature wind turbine. Students then test their wind turbines efficiency using a fan and visual voltmeter to measure electricity output, and following the engineering design cycle of ‘design, test, improve’. The workshop also covers curriculum linked content exploring renewable, none renewable and sustainable electricity generation, explores basic circuits and instils messaging around how we can all be more ‘green’.
